GOD AND LIFE

By Ross Bishop

I believe that God is an incredibly compassionate being who has created a perfect and powerful way for us to achieve enlightenment. We know that process as life.

God cannot simply give us enlightenment because we have free will. This means that if humans are to develop, it must be of their own choosing. Put yourself in God's place. There are billions of souls who do not yet live in the magnificence of who they really are. You cannot give them Grace because they have free will. So what would be the most powerful way to get them to know and deeply hold the truth about themselves?
You create a place where people can live from their egos (we call this the human shadow), outside the God Space if they choose. Then you create a process through which people will come to believe that they are unlovable and unworthy, even though this cannot possibly be true. This is called childhood wounding and it happens to every child on the planet – that should tell you something.

When people live from their shadow it puts them out of harmony with The Universe. The Universe is then obliged to urge them to change their beliefs through the creation of life situations that challenge those beliefs. When they do not respond they experience pain. The pain will generate the driving force for change.

Our pain is generated internally in response to our own sense of conscience (guilt and shame). The process is stimulated by our interaction with other people. This is called The Universal Mirror. Think of The Universe or God, or whatever you want to call it, as having created a giant mirror. But instead of being made of glass and reflecting light, this mirror is made up of other people and it reflects back to us (makes us aware of) the places where we do not hold compassion.[1] Think of how you react when someone else is acting inappropriately. That’s the Universal Mirror in operation.

The reflected image will come in the form of a hurtful action or an insensitive word from a lover, parents, a co-worker, a friend or some fool that cuts you off in traffic. We see these actions as starting with the other person, but they do not. Whether the other person realizes it or not, they are reacting to the disharmony that you carry and project. This is the Universe’s way of showing you that there is a “sticky” place within you that needs attention. These are of course, the very places that you would rather avoid.

Whether you like the process or not, it is being done in order to help you. And the Universe will present you with opportunity after opportunity to change until you get it. Anywhere that you hold fear, anxiety, self-doubt or shame - in other words anywhere you close your heart to yourself or to others, is where The Universe will apply pressure. The pain and frustration that you feel from your ego driven conflicts (both internal and external) will eventually push you to change your beliefs. This will bring you closer to living in the God Space. Your life is guaranteed to remain painful so long as you hold your disharmonious beliefs. This is the way The Universe works.
