When it comes to dealing with us, the Creator has a problem. He/She desires us to know the truth, especially about ourselves, but we have free will, so He/She cannot just give it to us. Free will demands that we must find things out for ourselves. So He/She created the human form and a process called “life” to accomplish that. Through our life experiences, we learn and grow, and eventually come to understand ourselves and our place in the universe. Interestingly, this is done through the power of opposites.

You start life out believing things about yourself that are not true – feeling unworthy, unlovable, etc. – the exact opposite of the truth, (where you will someday end up). These beliefs are created by your experiences in childhood, such as being criticized, rejected, or abused. These experiences can lead you to believe that you are not good enough, that you are not worthy of love, or that you are not capable. These false beliefs will hold you back until you let them go.
If The Creator were to explain this process to you, it would significantly reduce its effectiveness. So of necessity, He/She has to keep you in the dark to explore “life” on your own. After many trials and tribulations, created because of your false beliefs, you will come to realize their falseness and step over the threshold into the space of your true self. The hitch in the process is that we get stuck because we are being asked to love ourselves, something which is unfamiliar, alien and threatening – because today it makes us feel exposed and vulnerable.

So, we are reluctant take the risk. We throw all sorts of objections in the way – “I’m not lovable,” “I’m not worthy,” “I don’t deserve . .” These beliefs allow us to hide behind our feelings of unworthiness and not step into the unknown and foreboding land of being lovable. After all, given what we believe about ourselves, we are fairly certain we will be rejected.
But when we resist by acting on our false beliefs, The Universe is obliged to push on us. The way this manifests is through the creation of conflicts with other people or internally with ourselves. This is done in order to awaken us to what are doing. Conflict is a sign that something is not working, that we are not aligned with our true selves. It is evidence that one or more of the parties to the situation are not operating from the truth. When we are in conflict, we have been operating from fear, anger, resentment, etc. – the manifestations of our false beliefs. And The Universe will not let up until we abandon those.

Is this a painful process? Yes it can be. But the pain is self-created when we resist the truth. The formula is simple: refuse to love and you will experience stress and conflict. And the more you resist, the more stress and pain there will be. This is not to punish you but to call your attention to what you are doing.
To the uninitiated, this can seem cruel and uncaring. But nothing could be further from the truth. The Universe is trying to wake us up, and we frequently choose not to listen. After all, we have no guarantee (other than what The Creator has told us) regarding the outcome of the process. So we venture off into side roads of denial and end up creating all sorts of grief and pain for ourselves.
If you think about it for a moment, when you leave this earth body to return to your natural state, what will you take from this life other than your spiritual development? You can’t take money or your job title or your silicon boobs with you. Fame or worldly success means nothing “up there.” So what’s the point of all this stuff we go on about? Especially when you consider that the only thing that really matters is the love you show others as a reflection of what you feel about yourself.

I am not a religious person, but if you don’t believe me, read anything that Jesus taught us! You don’t have to be a Christian to accept His teachings. He stands as a bridge between our world and the next.
So why am I writing this to you? Because you have probably stumbled around in the underbrush and been bumped around enough that knowing the truth about what is going on could help you refocus and bring you out of the shadows. You are not the person life has made of you! The beliefs you hold about yourself are simply not true. It is my hope that you will begin to question your beliefs and eventually discard them.

I would suggest that you to go inside and speak with The Creator, but you probably wouldn’t believe what you heard anyway. It conflicts too much with what you already believe. So just go back to banging your head against the wall. Eventually you’ll end up in the same place, anyway. You see, there is only one outcome to this process. Perhaps not in this lifetime, but that’s another story.
So the next time you are faced with a challenge, take a moment to ask yourself “What is the Universe is trying to teach me?” “What false belief am I hanging on to that is causing this conflict?” Once you identify your false belief, you can work on understanding the truth and eventually let your belief go. As you do, you will become more aligned with your true self. You will also become more open to receiving the loving guidance of The Universe.
